Tennessee ConserVOLiance

When we think of blogs, we think of a personal diary or journal. The owner writes on a regular basis, detailing their personal thoughts and ideas. As you read, you get to know the person.

The topic of blogs ranges from the personal diary of angst ridden teens to the personal opinions of political pundits. Some review products and some detail the writer's favorite sports team.

We have most notably seen blogs make a difference in the political realm. The idea of grassroots movements can hardly be separated from blogs. We have seen some very high profile blogs impact political races. These are generally individual blogs, most likely on high profile political sites. This has tended to leave personal political blogs in the shadows.

This is leading to the next big movement in blogs; alliance blogs. These are compilations of individual blogger who join together to post their writings and musings on one site. These individuals will then draw a larger audience and therefore have a greater impact on the process.

One such alliance blog is the Tennessee ConserVOliance. This is an alliance blog made up of bloggers from across the state of Tennessee, east to west. Each person has their own blog, yet takes the time to post either a summary of an article on their own blog or an entirely new post. Also, each blogger adds all the other members sites to their blogrolls. This has a great affect on traffic to each site.

The Tennessee ConserVOLiance is a group of right and right of center bloggers. Most post on everything from national politics to state politics and even local politics. Reading the site is a great way to get a snapshot of what is going on across the state.

Another advantage the site serves is to provide bloggers a way to meet political candidates. Most candidates like to have the coverage bloggers offer, yet meeting each blogger individually would be more time consuming than they have time for. They would then have to choose which bloggers to meet, which would deprive the bloggers on smaller sites. By joining together, these bloggers can invite candidates to townhall meetings and ask the questions they and their readers want to hear.

Since this site launched over a year ago, several other sites have spawned. They have even grabbed the attention of other agencies which now try to get these types of alliances together. Their influence is growing.

So, if you are looking for someplace to read about Tennessee right and right of center politics, read the Tennessee ConserVOLiance. If you are looking to do something like this, this site is a great template for what these alliances can be.

Making this blog more informative.

When I started this group, it was about building links to help other bloggers. We were determined to post links to each other to build links and rankings. Well, that little experiment wasn't as successful as I had hoped it would be. We didn't get the large number of people sign up as I had hoped.

So, I'll now change it to a comprehensive blog review page. I'll scour the internet, looking for blogs. I read them, follow them for a few days or weeks, then report on here what I've discovered about them. I write short reviews, letting you know what I think. I'll try to be objective, not thinking about any political bias, but I make no guarantees (I'm pretty firm in my opinions and they do tend to taint my view). I do believe, though, I can find the good in any decent, logical argument, even if I don't agree with it.

At the very least, they should get a link out of it, and maybe some readers. What I'd like is for you (you're reading this) to pass along the link to this blog. Get others to read and learn about what's out there. Hey, you never know, you may find a new blog that interests you. That can't be all bad, huh?

First Blog Reviews

We now have our first group of blogs to review, so I'd like to give you some information on them. Please feel free to visit them for yourself.

First up is a site dedicated to homeschooling. This is written by a mother of two and details her trials and successes in her endeavor to homeschool her two children. If you are homeschooling or are interested in what a family goes through in the process, I'd suggest checking it out. momisteaching.com

Next is a blog written by the same mom. It is a general blog that deals with her trying to earn extra income while she homeschools, and deals with her life in general. It does make some interesting reading. Check it out at, wiredfornoise.blogspot.com

Looking for good tech information? Next up is a blog devoted to giving you information on keeping up with computer technology. One thing I found interesting, which I had not thought of before, is the fact that daylight savings time has changed this year. It's three weeks earlier. Does your computer know that? He gives links to fixing this and many more tech articles. It's worth a read. tech-mirage108.blogspot.com

The same writer tackles making money on the net. You can view some of his trials and tribulations and learn from them. He details programs that work and those that don't. Well worth checking out if you're trying to make a little extra drink money. mirage108.blogspot.com

Next, my site offers a minister's perspective on the world around us. This can be in the form of my thoughts on politics, religion, things around the web, or even photography. I'm not saying you'll agree with everything I write, but I hope to get you thinking. www.writingup.com/blog/pastorjr

Finally, we have a blog put up by a college student to fulfill a class requirement. You might think that sounds pretty dull, but he does write some intriguing stuff, stuff to make you think. He's engaging his world and sharing his thoughts. nathansblogforclass.blogspot.com

That's the first of the reviews from our group. If you'd like to have your blog reviewed by a group of people who will post your links in an effort to get more people know you're out there, please join.

The Blog Review Group Welcome

Welcome to the Blog Review Group.

The purpose of this group is to help bloggers get noticed. Traffic is the biggest concern for bloggers. You have something to say and you want others to hear it. Or, maybe you are using your blog to make a little extra cash. Getting traffic to your site is a necessity.

There are several ways to get your blog noticed. Social bookmarking, search engines, blog search sites, such as Technorait, are all great ways to get people to your blog. The problem is that there are literally millions of blogs out there. How do you get your blog noticed.

Maybe you are using your blog to make money with AdSense, affiliate links or even a pay-per-post type of system. For each of these to pay good dividends, you need traffic. You get better click throughs and offers if you have more traffic.

That leads us back to how to get noticed to get the traffic. Search engines and blog searches look for places that your blog is mentioned. The more it's mentioned, the higher the ranking. They believe it means your blog is more popular. So, you just need to get bloggers and site owners to mention your blog. That can be expensive, though.

That's where this site comes in.

What we offer is access to a database of subscribers, like yourself, who want traffic. You subscribe to our database. Your site is added. You then visit the other blogs in the database. You write a review of those blogs. That review can be one, cover-all, or individual, the choice is yours. In your review, you mention the blog address, providing a link. In return, every blog owner in the database will visit your site and write a review, mentioning your site and providing a link.

We don't tell you what to write in your review. It can be positive, neutral or negative. The point is just to provide a link to that blog.

As our database grows, you will have more and more links to your blog. This will increase your rankings, making your site easier to find in searches. Imagine as our database approaches 100, 200, 500, 1000, just how many links will direct readers back to your site, and how popular the search engines will see your blog as.

So, all you need to do is subscribe, giving your email and web link, wait for your email list, then visit and review. Within days, you should see an increase in traffic.
